Róza - Kid's room decor

Here you can see some of the progress of how I made a painting for a friend to decorate the room of his daughter.

This kiddo loves scribbling, reading and getting lost in her own reality so this was my main compass as I started working on the piece.

Pose study sketches and initial idea scribbles
Down below you can see the composition ideas that
I proposed along with some text that aims to help decipher my scribbles and get a better idea about where I'd go with the image.

As I was working on the first pass on the color sketches I realized that I will need to have a lot clearer idea about how drapery could fall in such a construct.
To battle that challenge I decided to take out some sheets and strings and make a mini blanket fort in the middle of the room. It took way more tweaking and adjusting than I thought it would, but it was still more efficient than me trying to just invent everything on the paper.

After I started to understand the structure I'm trying to simplify and also got a reply for the color ideas I started to work out the whole image in full size. Since there was still a lot of questions I worked on multiple sheets of tracing paper, checking different poses, additional elements, placements and such.
After I was happy where it all fell on the page it was time to trace everything to the watercolor paper and do the actual piece.
Even though I traced the outline of things on the sheet it was still really useful to have the previous stages on the easel beside. Sometimes the rough drawings give me a better idea about how to tweak things on the final pass.
